The Saint Vincent De Paul Society Food Pantry originated at St. Monica's October 1985.

The goal of the food pantry is to provide those who ask for and need assistance with enough

food to feed their families for one week each month.  The hope being the recipients will then

be able to use that week's food money to pay other bills.  Every month we provide all of the

items on the Food Order Form.  These are staple items that provide nutritional meals for the

          recipients.

Monetary donations, food and household items are collected at both Parishes on the first

Sunday of each month.  Some items are put into inventory to fill the order forms on distribution

day. Miscellaneous things are then displayed on tables, giving the families choices of a variety

of different items to add to their boxes of food.  Additional funding for the food pantry comes through

the SVDP collections. The Midwest Food Bank gives many things for distribution. We never know

what these items will be.  These "surprises" are great additions to the regular food pantry items.
